As the year is ending I have realized many things about myself and how this year has been the shortest and the longest for me at the same time.
The start of the year and the end of the year feel like centuries have passed between them. The amount of things that happened in these 12 months might not even happen to me for maybe like a for another 2 years.
The rollercoaster ride it took me on made me actually understand the person I am and the person I want be. The changes I have to bring in myself to be more “sustainable” for the future is something that is going to be my focus in 2024.
This year taught me the importance or lack thereof I have in other people’s life, how to be self introspective and not find external happiness. How sometimes you should not waste your time in justifying yourself for something you have not done and rather just move past it and live your best life. How to be detached from certain things and keep a solid center something that grounds you, yet gives you the freedom to fly and soar in the vast sky.
The importance of culture and how being connected to your roots makes you see and understand things about yourself that you would have never known. The importance of breaking certain traditions that have become outdated and creating new traditions that evolves with the times that are evolving but has the essence of the initial culture within itself.
This year I left a job, took a break for sometime started a new job and understood that though money plays a huge factor in deciding your career decisions, your self respect and self worth are above all. A place where you are not valued or respected does not deserve your time or attention. Same goes with people; the ones who do not respect you do not deserve your time or attention.
However, respect is something that is earned and not demanded. Be yourself, be kind, be humble, be curious, ask questions, answer some, but never stop learning.
