Therapy

You know how there are times when rage just consumes you? You feel like hitting something or someone. It can be the situation or the people that make you feel like that way and make you lose all your calm and peace.

The question is what should be done in this situation?

There was a time when my emotions would be hard to control and the only thing that would make me control all me emotions was scratching myself. My whole hand and thighs would be covered in nail marks. I knew that this was not the solution even if it gave me temporary relife.

When I started with therapy, my therapist gave me better coping mechanisms like counting backwards, humming a tune or just diverting my thoughts to the things that are happening around me.

She also suggested that to keep control of emotions the long term things that could be done is meditating, exercise and journal to keep emotions regulated. Controlling your emotions before they start controlling you is how you stop being affected by the things that happen in life.

Therapy was something that actually helped me understand where I could improve and how I could create healthy boundaries even with people that are close to me. Boundaries helped me really keep control of things and communicate clearly about things that I like and I don’t.

What I am saying is that therapy is something that has helped me a lot in trying to figure out how I can change for the better and how I can protect myself by creating boundaries that are healthy and sustainable.

Everyone should try therapy, not only when they think something is wrong, but just to keep a check on your state of mind and keep it healthy.

I connected to a therapist through https://www.rockethealth.app/ (not a sponsor), you can try it too.
